When the hubby gets home or leaves the house, the kids see us kiss, but that’s about it. Is that pretty much how it is in your home? So stop what you’re doing and go snuggle with your spouse or hold hands. I know when I was little, my parents were very affectionate with one another. I remember us yelling across the room in disgust, “EWWWWWW!” But as I got older, those were signs to me that my parents cared for each other. Those were the things that reassured me that everything was alright.
Here’s my challenge to myself and to you all: let them see you kiss. Let them see how much you love each other by your affection, love, and commitment to each other.
5 Benefits of Kissing
1. Burn calories. Kissing releases adrenaline which helps burn 2-5 calories per minute. According to LiveStrong .com, “Oxygen consumption is the key to burning calories.”
2. For the kids. So your kids can see firsthand what a healthy marriage looks like.
3. Stress releaser. Kissing releases endorphins, which help put you in a good mood and release stress. According to Laura Berman, Ph.D., an assistant clinical professor of psychiatry, “Kissing relieves stress by creating a sense of connectedness, which releases endorphins, the chemicals that counteract stress and depression.”
4. Keeps cavities at bay. “Kissing increases saliva flow, which can be helpful in removing cavity-causing material from tooth surfaces,” says Dr. Mark Donald, Academy of General Dentistry.
5. And most importantly, it strengthens your relationship and creates incredible intimacy.
