I suspect you do mean “slutty.” Why did you say it, and then feel the need to qualify it only after the fact? But the thing I hope you can realize that “someone who is willing to invest some time and see if there is anything there that could grow” and someone who has had a one-night stand (one or several) can be the same person.
I’ve been out recently with someone who dates and is serially monogamous. He doesn’t have a lot of awkward one-night stands — instead his past is littered with “relationships” that didn’t work out, the longest of which was only 2 1/2 years, and several lasting only a few weeks. It’s clear to me that he’s no more ready for a relationship (whether with me or anyone else) and probably less so, than someone like me who’s been more willing to hook up with Mr. Right Now rather than trying to make him into Mr. Right.
Often it’s the ability to see the difference between someone with whom you want to be in a relationship and someone you absolutely don’t which makes you ready for the right person to come along.
